Jennifer Mahoney - Goland

Sarval Dressage Instructor & Trainer

Building confidence in both horse and rider is the foundation to Jen’s educational approach at Sarval Dressage. Passionate about the precision and technical beauty of dressage, Jen takes pride in a teaching style that focuses on individual potential and the understanding that people and horses both learn and grow at their own pace. Jen encourages consistency in her students and welcomes riders at all levels. She has experience working  with horses from Training level through FEI.

Jen is a respected equine professional who has been training on the North Shore for the past 30 years. She graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a Bachelor of Science degree from the Animal Science program with her focus on Equine Studies. During her last year at UMASS, Jen enjoyed the opportunity of an internship with Renate Lansburgh. From that point on she worked under Volker Brommann,  Tuny Page,  Roel Theunissen, and Henk Van Bergen. Jen currently trains with Shannon Dueck and Conrad Schumacher. She  earned her USDF Bronze and USDF Silver medals and has shown through Intermediare 1.

Inspiring riders to be their best

While Jen follows the Dutch Training System, she ultimately believes that each horse and rider should be managed as individuals within that system. Her teaching methods center around ensuring that the horse is strength trained in the process of educating the rider and horse through the levels, maintaining a happy and healthy team of athletes.

Jen’s students appreciate the focus, discipline, consistency and work involved in educating themselves and their horses. They learn to better understand the relationship they have with their horse both through riding and from the ground.
